The Start of Something Special With Delicious Bakes

At Rowan Park, we’ve had a brilliant month enjoying the sunnier days and forming some new friendships with the students at Downside Abbey School. We have been dedicated to playing an active role in the local community, and the upper and lower-sixth-form students from Downside Abbey School are organising engaging weekly activities they can do with our residents. This week, they visited and helped our residents make batches of Welsh Cakes.

All of our residents loved their baking afternoon, it is one of the universal favourites here at Rowan Park Care Home. Whether they mixed the ingredients, rolled out the dough or cut out the shapes, there was something for all of our residents to get involved with.

Our residents loved the older children coming in and being able to engage with them, they had some great conversations about their interests and their favourite things to bake at home. Through this session, our residents and the students realised they actually have a lot in common which can form important friendships for the future. Both our residents and team are looking forward to what our next session with the students at Downside Abbey School will bring!

As part of our all-inclusive activities programme, we create a schedule that incorporates stimulating activities that align with our resident’s unique needs and preferences. We embrace the belief that variety is one of the most exciting parts of life, and we want each day to hold new and captivating experiences for our residents. This allows our residents to maintain their independence, choose what they want to partake in and reap the benefits that socialising and exploring new activities can bring.

We also understand the importance of maintaining an active role in the local community and engaging with individuals from a variety of generations. It contributes to our lively and stimulating atmosphere, ensuring residents receive meaningful interactions every day.
