Festive Alpaca Visit Brings Christmas Cheer to Rowan Park

The festive season is well and truly underway at Rowan Park, and what better way to kick off December than with a visit from two adorable furry friends? Our residents were treated to a very special experience at the beginning of the month when Alpaca Adventures brought along two of their gentle and friendly alpacas. The animals brought smiles, laughter, and plenty of cuddles as residents had the chance to stroke and interact with them. For all of our residents no matter their care needs, it was a calming and joyful moment that made for an unforgettable start to the Christmas countdown.

For our residents, the interaction with these gentle animals was a real treat and led to many interesting conversations about what animals they had met through the years as well as laughter and some quiet moments of reflection. They all said it was great to get up close with the Alpacas and has really got them in the mood for Christmas.

But the fun didn’t stop there. To make December even more special, we have been visited by our playful elves—Dobby and Jolly from Collier’s Way, alongside Gandalf and Sugarplum—who arrived to spread mischief and festive fun throughout the home. These cheeky elves have been spreading some magic and fun throughout December and are here to stay!

Every morning, residents have enjoyed discovering where the elves are hiding and what antics they’ve been up to overnight. From getting tangled in our Christmas tree to making snow angels in the flour, the elves have brought laughter and a sense of excitement to the home. These light-hearted moments have been a real talking point, encouraging residents to share memories of Christmas traditions and childhood fun.

The combination of animal therapy from the alpacas and the laughter brought by our mischievous elves has created a warm and festive atmosphere at Rowan Park. These special activities are not just about celebrating Christmas but also about fostering a sense of community, joy, and connection among residents, staff, and families.

The countdown to Christmas continues, and we can’t wait to see what other surprises the elves have in store for us throughout December. In the meantime, the regular activities we provide our residents at Rowan Park remind us all of the magic and togetherness that makes this season so special.
