An Enchanting Visit from Owl Enlightenment

This month at Rowan Park Care Home, we were thrilled to welcome the team from Owl Enlightenment to the home for a truly magical experience. The visit brought a wonderful array of owls to meet our residents, and it turned out to be the favourite activity we’ve hosted this month for everybody.

This visit gave our residents the chance to learn all about these magnificent birds. The team from Owl Enlightenment shared fascinating details about the different breeds of owls they brought along, including where they originated from, their ages, and even their unique personalities. Residents were captivated as they learned about the differences between male and female owls, their feeding habits, and the intricate care they require. The most exciting part of the day, however, was when residents were able to hold and interact with the owls themselves. Many were delighted to feel the soft feathers of these beautiful creatures up close, and the owls seemed to enjoy the attention just as much!

At Rowan Park, we understand the importance of incorporating animal therapy into our all-inclusive activities program as spending time with animals has proven benefits for mental health and emotional well-being as well as being a great opportunity to stimulate multiple senses. For some of our residents, it was a completely new experience, while for others, it brought back fond memories of countryside walks and childhood encounters with wildlife and pets.

We’re proud to say that events like these not only bring joy to our residents but also foster a strong sense of community here at Rowan Park. Watching our residents interact with the animals and continue to form meaningful connections to heartwarming to see, and it’s these moments that make our home so special.
