A Wonderful Day Out at Cheddar Gorge

There was a real sense of excitement recently as our residents from Rowan Park set off for a memorable day out to the beautiful Cheddar Gorge. The trip was filled with laughter, companionship and plenty of chances to enjoy the sights, sounds and flavours of a much-loved destination.
The highlight of the day was a visit to the famous Cheddar Cheese Factory, where residents discovered the fascinating story behind one of Britain’s best-known cheeses. Many enjoyed watching the traditional cheesemaking process, and of course, sampling the results. It was a joy to see residents reminiscing about their own experiences with cooking and enjoying local produce, which sparked numerous happy conversations throughout the visit.
The adventure didn’t end there. Our group explored the charming village of Cheddar, taking in its beautiful scenery and enjoying a leisurely wander through the streets. A stop for a cup of tea gave everyone the chance to rest their feet and enjoy the simple pleasure of spending time together. To round off the day, there was a little shopping, with many residents choosing to bring home some delicious cheese as a treat and a reminder of the outing.

It was truly a wonderful day filled with new experiences and treasured moments. Days like these reflect the importance we place on giving residents the chance to enjoy life outside the home, stay connected to the wider community and make special memories with friends.
At Rowan Park, we believe every day should bring comfort, joy and opportunities for connection. Whether it’s through organised trips like this or daily activities within the home, we are committed to creating experiences that enrich the lives of our residents.
