We are very much aware of the effects of COVID-19 and our care home has been created with these in mind. The health of our residents, their loved ones, and our team members here at Rowan Park Care Home is of the utmost importance and it is our aim to ensure that we keep as safe as possible from the risks of COVID-19.

We are compliant with all guidance and legislation as issued by the Government and key sector bodies and we have robust policies and procedures that provide a level of reassurance for all residents and visitors to the home.

At Rowan Park Care Home, we ensure that we have a sufficient supply of PPE and hand hygiene products at all times and our team follows robust infection prevention and control measures.

We also recognise how important it is to keep up to date and compliant with all official advice and guidance given by the Government, the Department of Health, and the local NHS Trust. We recommend that our residents and team members get all available vaccinations and boosters for both COVID-19 and flu and in circumstances where cases do occur, we have an efficient and effective system for record-keeping and taking necessary steps to keep cases contained.

Staying Connected

We understand the difficulties that people have faced and continue to face as a result of COVID-19, which is why we are dedicated to ensuring that our residents are able to stay connected with their loved ones and other members of our community. We wholly support any residents who wish to leave our care home for day trips and overnight stays and simply ask that these residents undertake an individual risk assessment which includes the use of respiratory screening questions on their return. We do not require these residents to test or isolate but for everyone’s safety, we do encourage residents to be vaccinated in these instances.

In times when interaction may be difficult, we support our residents in staying connected via a range of online devices where they can video call friends and family. We believe that human connection and participation in activities are essential for our resident’s mental and physical wellbeing, and promote this at every opportunity that we can.

COVID-19 FAQs

It is important to us that we keep residents, their families, and our staff as safe as possible and we understand the worries and concerns associated with COVID-19. At Rowan Park Care Home, we are always happy to answer your questions and reassure you of any concerns you may have. Here are some of our FAQs regarding COVID-19. 

Whilst being vaccinated is no longer mandatory we strongly recommend that all residents, their visitors, and team members at Rowan Park Care Home are fully COVID-19 vaccinated, including future boosters, unless medically exempt. To reduce the risk of infection to others we will continue to encourage our team members to have all their vaccinations.

When transferring from the community or another care home a person does not need to isolate if:

✓  The circumstances at the care home / interim care facility from which the person has transferred are known.

If the resident is symptomatic or has been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19, then they should isolate and perform two LFT tests on day (0), and again on day (2). Isolation can end following two negative tests.

If the resident tests positive in the home, they must be isolated for 5 days. The resident can then return to their normal activities if they feel well and do not have a high temperature (without the use of medication paracetamol).

Residents who test positive should avoid contact with other people who are eligible for COVID-19 treatments for 10 days after a positive test. Residents unable to take the test should isolate for 5 days.

During an outbreak, there may be risk assessments carried out to include but not limited to the control of visiting arrangements, admissions to the home, and the use of communal areas for a period of time. We work closely with local and national agencies in accordance with local agreements and guidance. For more information please contact our Home Manager directly.
