Our Very Own Tour De France!

This October at Rowan Park Care Home, we kicked off an exciting fundraiser with staff collectively deciding to cycle the distance of the 2024 Tour de France route—over 3,000 kilometres—in support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This incredible charity is dedicated to granting memorable wishes for children facing critical illnesses, making it a cause close to the hearts of Rowan Park’s community. Our residents had a great time cheering on our team and helping count how many kilometres we had left to ride!

The entire staff embraced this challenge, committing to cycling the full Tour de France route on exercise bikes throughout the month. To enhance the spirit of giving and fun, we hosted additional fundraising activities, including a raffle, a “Guess the snowballs in the jar” game, and a “Name the teddy” contest, among others. Families of residents and the local community were also invited to participate, adding to the excitement and building a bigger sense of belonging.

By the end of the month, we are hoping to raise substantial funds for Make-A-Wish and continue to bring people together in support of such a meaningful cause. With each kilometre, we cycled and different events we held, we aim to make a positive difference for both the children and our residents whilst creating long-lasting memories for everyone involved.

At Rowan Park Care Home, we understand the importance of creating a warm and welcoming environment for our residents where they can thrive. Through our activities programme, we can embrace the unique preferences of our residents and hold events that are both fun and improve their physical and mental well-being. We look forward to holding more fundraising events in the future and inviting the local community into our home to continue to strengthen our community ties around Radstock.
