A Day to Remember at Chew Valley Lake

There’s something truly special about revisiting places that hold cherished memories, and this month, a group of our residents did just that with a delightful day out to Chew Valley Lake in Somerset. It was a beautifully sunny day and was the perfect backdrop for our residents to unwind and reconnect with places many of them knew well in years gone by.

As they walked along the edge of the lake, conversations naturally turned to stories from the past. Several residents spoke warmly about previous visits and shared tales from their younger days and family outings spent at the lake. It was heartwarming to hear laughter and gentle conversation as they took in the peaceful views and spotted wildlife.

Lunch was enjoyed in a quiet spot overlooking the water, where residents continued reminiscing over sandwiches and tea. Some recounted childhood adventures or family picnics by the shore, while others simply appreciated the chance to pause and enjoy the beauty of the natural surroundings. It was clear that the visit not only brought back treasured memories but also created new ones.

This trip came about after several residents expressed how much they would like to spend more time outdoors, especially revisiting local areas that played a part in their lives. At Rowan Park, our residents' preferences are at the heart of everything we do, so we made sure to incorporate this more into our activities programme going forward.

These kinds of outings are more than just pleasant days out. They are an important part of our commitment to supporting emotional well-being, helping residents feel valued, seen, and connected. We’re already planning our next adventure and look forward to spending many more days like this.

At Rowan Park, we offer compassionate, professional care and the chance to continue doing the things you loved most. To find out more about life here or to arrange a visit, please get in touch. We can't wait to meet you.
